It ain't over till the LHC says so, which is why researchers at CERN are opening up their most recent OPERA experiment to the scientific community before officially releasing its findings. Why, you ask? Because the experiment could shatter one of the fundamentals of physics -- Einstein's theory of special relativity, which says nothing in the universe can travel faster than the speed of light. While studying neutrino oscillations -- where particles shift from one type of subatomic particle (muon-neutrinos) to another (tau-neutrinos) -- scientists clocked a beam of muon-neutrinos outpacing the aforesaid ray of light by 60 nanoseconds. Calling the result "crazy," lead scientist Antonio Ereditato published the findings online, hoping to attract the attention of others who might shed some light on what it all means. We're not expecting a conclusive answer any time soon, but budding whiz-kids can get educated in the links below.

Facebook Patches Security Threat,Apps acess Personal Info & Modify It..

Facebook has confirmed claims made by Symantec over millions of leaked “access tokens”. These tokens enable an application to access personal information and make changes to profiles, essentially giving third parties the “spare key” to your profile information, photographs, wall and messages.

It is not confirmed whether these third parties (mostly advertisers) knew about the security hole, though Facebook has since told Symantec that the flaw has been fixed. Access granted via these keys could have even been used to mine users’ personal data, with evidence that the security flaw could date back to 2007 when Facebook applications were launched.

Symantec employee Nishant Doshi said in a blog post:

“We estimate that as of April 2011, close to 100,000 applications were enabling this leakage. We estimate that over the years, hundreds of thousands of applications may have inadvertently leaked millions of access tokens to third parties.”

Access tokens are granted when a user installs an application and grants the service access to his or her profile information. Usually access keys expire over time, though many applications request an offline access key which will not change until a user sets a new password.

Despite Facebook using solid OAUTH2.0 authentication methods, a number of older authentication schemes are still accepted and in turn used by thousands of applications. It is these applications, using outdated security methods which may have inadvertently leaked information to third parties.

Nishant explains:

“The application uses a client-side redirect for redirecting the user to the familiar application permission dialog box. This indirect leak could happen if the application uses a legacy Facebook API and has the following deprecated parameters, “return_session=1″ and “session_version=3″, as part of their redirect code.”

Should these parameters have been used (pictured above), Facebook would return an HTTP request containing access tokens within the URL. As part of the referral scheme, this URL is in turn passed on to third party advertisers, complete with access token (pictured below).

Users who are concerned that their access keys have been well and truly leaked should change their passwords immediately to automatically reset the token.

There was no news of the breach on the official Facebook blog, though revised application authentication methods have since been posted on the developers blog, requiring all sites and applications to switch to OAUTH2.0.

"OpenViBE provides a tool that is aimed at a varied audience, from researchers and clinicians to video game developers," they said pointing to the potential of the software.

A person wearing an EEG (electroencephalogram) cap focuses his attention on the letter that he wants to spell out. When this letter flashes, a particular brain wave is generated which is picked up, detected and interpreted by the machine, they said.

Samsung introduces the world to DDR4 memory, promising unprecedented power efficienc

Samsung, apart from being a consumer electronics giant is also one of the premier computer component manufacturers in the world, and in fact, invented DDR RAM in 1997, following it up with DDR2 in 2001, and DDR3 in 2005. Cementing its position, Samsung has announced it has completed the development of the industry’s first DDR4 DRAM module, using 30nm class process technology.

Achieving unheard of data transfer speeds (2.133Gbps) at a super low voltage (1.2V), the DDR4 module has been given unbuffered dual in-line memory modules (UDIMM) to a controller maker for final testing.

Compared to 30nm class process 1.5V DDR3 DRAM, the new DDR4 DRAM module apparently offers reduced power consumption to the tune of nearly 40%. This power efficiency is in no small part due to the Pseudo Open Drain (POD) technology Samsung has developed, which takes up about 50% of the electrical current of DDR3 RAM for read/write processes. The new circuit architecture also allows for massive speed boosts, allowing DDR4 to run at speeds from 1.6Gbps to 3.2Gbps, nearly twice as fast when compared to today’s typical speeds of 1.6Gbps for DDR3 RAM and 800Mbps for DDR2 RAM.

The latest RAM modules would only be arriving by the second half of the year, after JEDEC standardization of DDR4 technologies. The president of Samsung’s memory division, Dong Soo Jun, said in a statement:

"Samsung has been actively supporting the IT industry with our green memory initiative by coming up with eco-friendly, innovative memory products providing higher performance and power efficiency every year. The new DDR4 DRAM will build even greater confidence in our cutting-edge green memory, particularly when we introduce four-gigabit DDR4-based products using next generation process technology for mainstream application.

This will list all the unread emails from your Gmail account. However, if you use labels and archive your mail like me, you need to put additional search parameter. Use the below parameters for search:

is:unread in:inbox

The above query will filter out all the emails in archives, trash or elsewhere and will show only emails from the Inbox folder of the Gmail.

Suhas Gopinath knew he was in trouble. He had failed an exam at his high school in Bangalore, and his mother would not be happy. Like middle-class mothers the world over, she believed strongly in education as the means to achieve a good life and a stable job, and leaned hard on her children to excel at school. Surely she would take his poor result on the exam as proof that something was amiss with the extracurricular activity that was taking up more and more of his waking hours.

“You are spending too much time at that Internet café,” she said to her 15-year-old son. “You must swear on my head that you won’t visit that shop and will focus on your studies!”

“But mother, what about Bill Gates?” replied Suhas.

“What about him?”

“He’s the richest man in the world, a great entrepreneur who built his company from scratch, and he never finished his studies, so why do you force me to?”

Bill Gates, who has spent a considerable portion of his fortune promoting education around the world, would probably not approve of young Suhas’s reasoning, but he might allow himself a certain pride in the achievements of the young man he inspired.

The reason Suhas was failing in his studies is that he was spending his nights building Web sites for businesses in the United States, a skill he taught himself at age 14 when he minded the local cyber café during the owner’s daily lunch break. Seeing the boy’s talent, the owner suggested he register as a freelance developer.

For the first year, it was tough going. Suhas did not have a PC at home and had to work at the Internet shop. A friend in the United States helped him generate sales leads, but companies were reluctant to do business with someone so young and lacking in formal academic credentials.

Suhas eventually hit on a strategy to reach his target market of small manufacturers. He would identify prospects from the phone listings, seeking out companies that had e-mail addresses but no Web presence. He sent the companies e-mail inquiries suggesting that he represented a firm in India interested in placing a large order for import. The companies would respond to the opportunity, offering to mail out printed catalogs because they were not on the Web. Suhas then curtly informed them that he could not do business with them, because their lack of e-commerce capabilities did not meet his supply standards. Several weeks later, he followed up with a brochure from his real company, Globals Inc., offering to design and develop a site at an attractive price.

This scheme was such a success that it is now studied in marketing programs at Indian business schools. “I am sure that none of those companies regret their decisions,” says Suhas. “They are small businesses in a global economy and they need to be on the Web, for themselves and their customers. The next inquiry they receive might be real.”

Suhas spent the remainder of his teenage years building up his company. Over the next several years, Globals grew to employ 120 people in 12 locations worldwide, but the company culture is still rooted in that same ethic, where team members are given respect and room to express their talent. On Friday afternoons, visitors might find the Bangalore offices dark, and the team of hardened IT professionals—most in their mid-20s—blowing off steam playing hide and seek with their 21-year-old CEO.

Suhas tried to keep up with his studies, but his attendance problems at the local university were so severe that the school would not allow him to sit for his final exams. “I had joined the World Economic Forum and was traveling quite a bit,” Suhas explained. Indeed, the international organization, whose annual meetings in Davos, Switzerland feature a who’s-who of the global elite from Bill Clinton to NandanNilekani, honored Suhas Gopinath, its youngest member, as Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2008. Not a bad excuse for missing classes!

Today, Suhas presides over an expanding IT services business. He is a passionate advocate for entrepreneurism, meeting with everyone from students to government leaders.

Despite the influence of his example and his energy, there are still people who remain to be convinced. His mother, who once scolded him for failing a high school exam, still frets that his unsettled lifestyle will make it hard for him to find a bride, and sometimes asks if it would be possible for him to put one of his friends in charge of Globals so he could go and get a steady job working for Infosys.

Suhas Gopinath has received a lot of attention in the global media. Who can resist the story of the teenaged CEO sipping champagne with the grandees of Davos when he’s barely of legal age to buy a beer at the corner shop? Some might say his case is exceptional: In a country of more than a billion people, it is possible to stumble upon a one-in-a-billion individual.

The sheer novelty of Suhas’s personal story should not obscure the larger point. This ambitious young man found success because of his talent, to be sure. But he also benefited from a unique confluence of powerful forces that is extending the opportunity to express talent more broadly across the globe and more deeply into the socioeconomic scale with each passing day.

"Living in the Silicon Valley, if you do not do a startup, then something is wrong with you," says , Vinod Dham, when asked why he left a high-profile career in Intel after having successfully completed the Pentium project. "In 1995, I was 45 and facing a midlife crisis. I could have ridden a Harley Davidson, or gone bungee jumping or done a startup. Since I am a pretty conservative guy I chose the last," he laughs.

From the hills near Rawalpindi to the Valley, the Dhams have gone through a fascinating journey. Coming to India during Partition as refugees, Dham's father joined the army as a civilian. Dham was born in Pune (across the railway station in Cowasji Hospital, says Dham) as his father was posted there. His early education was in Pune and Dham considers himself a Puneite, speaking fluent Marathi.

After his bachelors in Electrical Engineering from the Delhi College of Engineering, in 1971, Dham wanted to go abroad and study microelectronics. However, his parents wanted him to be with them in Delhi. " At that time, career and such things did not enter my mind. There was simply no protest, I accepted it," recalls Dham. Yet, he was lucky to be 10 minutes away from a forward-looking entrepreneur, Gurpreet Singh of Continental Devices, who wanted to run a world-class semiconductor company in the outskirts of Delhi. "Though Sardarji, as we used to call him, was not a techie - he was an economist from the London School of Economics - he was very aware that in semiconductors lay the future. He was collecting bright people from places like Berkeley and Stanford. He had met Gordon Moore. Robert Noyce had even come and stayed in his house in Maharani Bagh, in the late '60s, since Noyce wanted Intel to start chip manufacturing in India," says Dham.

Dham wanted to know what went on inside the devices. And so, after convincing his parents, he went to Cincinnati in 1975 to do an MS EE in Solid State Sciences. Cincinnati, at that time, was a very good school in microelectronics with even a fab on campus and was widely supported by the semiconductor industry.

After MS Dham went to Dayton and joined MCR. "It was cold and lonely but I got my green card and work experience. I got some patents from the work I did there. I was presenting it in a IEEE conference in Monterrey, California. The Intel people were also there presenting their work and they said they wanted me to join them. While in Continental Devices I had read about Gordon Moore, Robert Noyce and all that in the technology magazines but they were asking questions like how PhDs would run a business. It was fascinating. Of course, I joined as a lowly engineer. I worked on EPROMS (I was a co-inventor of flash memory) for seven years," recalls Dham.

However, Dham wanted more action and started looking around. At that time, the 386 chip had been designed and had gone for production. Dham wanted to get into microprocessors, he applied for a job in that division but he was rejected since the project was on course. That would not deter a determined Dham. He went nosing around and found that there were problems in production. The fab thought may be it was at fault and was cleaning up its shop, the designers were at tethers end after several redesigns and Dham thought he could lick the problem. He went to the programme manager and told him that he would act as his consultant and need not be given a formal position. When Dham straightened out the problem, Intel's fortunes shot up and the boss was happy. So he made him in charge of 386 and went on to 486 himself. "But 386 was now mature and there was not much excitement." It so turned out that he was then shifted to 486 since his former boss had quit. However 486 was in deep trouble, the fab was ready, the chip had been announced to go one up on competitors but there were numerous problems at all levels. "I worked so hard I thought I died, but finally I finished the project in November 1989. I took a month off to India to unwind and came back in January 1990 and was made incharge of 586 or Pentium," says Dham.

Pentium was a challenge in many ways; 486 was more integration than innovation. Paranoia was absolutely at the top. "It was not easy at that time. The first six months was foundation laying. We also started bringing multi-scalar architecture. I picked Avtar Saini to execute the design. He was a go-getter and executed very well. The whole team did a great job. The biggest challenges came in business. The big customers like IBM and Compaq were very happy selling 486. But we wanted to stay one generation ahead of competition. But, our customers were not ready. Luckily CD-ROM prices crashed and became affordable for home PCs. We had a bus called PCI and we could put graphics, audio and video as well as games on a home computer using Pentium, and then position ourselves ahead of 486. We picked ourselves a new horse called Packard Bell, which nobody in the corporate market had heard of. They started selling to CompUSA, Circuit City, Best Buy, Good Guy and all the retail stores. I used to go with my team to demos with 486 and Pentium to show how Pentium was better than 486. They were getting it only from Packard Bell and they asked Compaq and Dell: "Where is your Pentium machine?" Pentium became a huge success for Intel and Dham left Intel in 1995, riding on its success.

"The best thing that happened to me was joining Intel and the best thing that happened to me was leaving Intel," says Dham in one of his crisp sound bytes that make him so popular with journalists.

He joined Nexgen, which was a startup that was acquired by AMD later. After helping AMD seriously challenge Intel with its vastly popular K6, Dham left AMD and joined Silicon Spice, a startup, as chairman, president and CEO though others had founded it. "It has been the best part of my life, building teams, products, raising money, talking to customers and finally selling it to Broadcom, a company which might become tomorrow's Cisco," he says. Silicon Spice has been acquired by Broadcom for $1.2 billion and everybody, including some office staff, have become millionaires.

Photographs and certificates from Andy Grove and Craig Barret about 386, 486 and Pentium adorn Dham's office walls as well as one from Bill Clinton for being the presidential advisor on minorities. Noticeably his latest chip, Calisto - its very first copy that passed all tests - lies at the feet of a small Ganapati statue on his table.

Dham's favourite hobby is carpentry and his favourite TV show is Home Improvement. 'Tool Man' Tim Taylor's Do It Yourself does not quite work. This hi-tech craftsman's chips sure do.

Necessity is the mother of invention and so is true in case of T. Bhargavi, a 32-year-old homemaker-turned-entrepreneur living in Bangalore. Bhargavi’s daily struggle to keep her house clean led her to create a machine that can function like a computer and yet can be packed neatly in a briefcase.

Bhargavi found it tough to clean the surface under her husband’s personal computer. It was difficult due to the large monitor and the PC’s cables that spread from the table onto the floor. The family could not afford a laptop and therefore her trouble didn’t seem to have an end. This daily tussle with cleaning the room with the computer motivated Bhargavi to build a computer which can be neatly packed into a cabinet. Unlike her husband, Bhargavi is a high school pass out with no formal education about computers. The only way she could get rid of the computer wires in her house was to think of an affordable solution. She started questioning her husband Seelam Ranga Reddy why the desktop computer requires more wires than a laptop, why it cannot have a single unit similar to a laptop, and so on. Initially he ignored her queries, telling her it’s all very complex. But after over two years of convincing, Reddy decided to help Bhargavi translate her thoughts into reality. The couple started drawing designs for a cabinet computer and finalized a computerized design in February 2009. Bhargavi submitted the idea to the Technopreneur Promotion Programme (TePP) of Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India.
After evaluation, the DSIR decided to support the project and funded Rs 500,000 for making a prototype of Cabtop, the cabinet computer. However, this amount was too less to make the Cabtop. With support from her family, Bhargavi developed the product after investing Rs 1500,000. She consulted various product designers and hardware engineers for developing the Cabtop. In eight months, India’s first indigenous cabinet computer was ready.
The Cabtop was tested in Durgapur by the Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI) of Government of India. Made out of components of a PC, the Cabtop has many similarities of a PC and a laptop. For consumers, it will cost between Rs 17,000 and Rs 32,000, based on the configuration. Fitted with spare parts that are easily available in market, the Cabtop allows for any computer configuration to be fitted in it.
One of the key features of the Cabtop include its unique design of an all-in-one PC unit. The design is such that all PC parts have been accommodated, including add-on cards and speakers. The monitor is fitted in a moveable cabinet so that it can be rotated up to 45 degrees angle. A TV tuner card allows the monitor to be used as a television as well. It has an built-in remote control system which allows users to switch it from computer mode to television mode. The keyboard supporting plate has a self-locking system to protect the monitor. And the Cabtop has only one power cable, making it easy to clean.
Now the biggest challenge for Bhargavi is to change the metal cabinet of the Cabtop into a fiber frame to reduce its cost and weight. However, to achieve this she needs huge capital investment.

Many times we thought of reading much hacking related eBooks or say Novels on PC and we download the PDF of the required book by searching for digital copy of book on Google .And many times we found that book and start to read it on PC ,also the most of the times the book we are having interested in reading is not available at Local books stores in our area (reason for reading it on PC),thereafter we came across well known ADOBE reader .I just hated it because its so bad for reading books(for general purpose its excellent) with it which has more than 300 or more pages to read .

So the solution is here The Mob pocket reader come with an attractive features such as it resizes whole text as we require and arrange it in the full screen way to get maximum size and space ,hence becomes very easy to read books ,but comparatively not as good as classical reading but we can highlight text as we do with faint marker on the books and enlighten the whole books I used to so this to highlight important text .Add some notes such as must read ,fruitful containt imp trick,and also not to forget to mention hare that we have an integrated dictionary in it just click on the word and we’ll have the its meaning automatically looked up in the dictionary which is available.

It comes hardly when you need to visit mobile sites,but in case of me I often came across such a situation for the testing purpose and penetration testing, also there are some sites which have worth contents but for the mobile devices only. In this case we need start our mobile browser, which takes considerable amount time to start and load the pages , and if we currently surfing the net on PC its very disgusting to stop.

So here is a simple solution for me that I use a Firefox browser and install wmlbrowser is 0.7.23 add on for it

Give simply a try for it , install addon and see the sites loaded simply as a normal site

GET it (for Firefox only)

Note: If you have such a site which for mobile devices only then try loading it without this add on ,if it doesn't loads then install add on and see it loading, This is just for the sake to check it works correctly.

According to Gizmodo, Motorola has considered fusing solar cells with LCDs. This would make your device even more efficient, because no matter which way you had it oriented in the sun, it would always be harnessing the power of the sun.

Although CDs and DVDs are better mode of storing data, they are always prone to scratches and damages if not stored properly. CD/DVD/Blu-ray Disc Recovery is a simple freeware application that will help you recover corrupted files from CD, DVD and Blu-Ray Disks.
